Pachmayr's new revolver Speedloaders have been designed to set the standard for quality and performance. Unlike competitive models made of plastic, Pachmayr's Speedloaders are precision CNC machined from solid aluminum. The Speedloader bodies are cut in a polygon shape, which produces the smallest possible outside dimensions and allows them to easily fit compact revolvers. Furthermore, the Speedloaders are equipped with a rattle-eliminating o-ring that contacts the cartridge bases and firmly holds the rounds in place. Cartridges can be released with a simple twist of the large knurled knob.
Pachmayr has received several questions regarding the direction in which the speedloader knob should be turned to release the cartridges. This inquiry has arisen because some competitor's plastic speedloaders release when turned to the right, while Pachmayr's release when turned to the left. When Pachmayr's experienced shooter engineers designed their speedloader, they spent considerable time reviewing other available speedloaders and sought to improve upon them. One enhancement they identified was to make the cartridges release when turning the knob to the left.
Pachmayr believes this design choice offers users several significant advantages. Firstly, since revolver cylinders swing out to the left, turning the release knob to the left helps keep the cylinder fully open when reloading. Secondly, turning to the left naturally tends to move the user's fingers away from the frame and grips, as opposed to turning to the right, which tends to move them against the revolver. Additionally, as the cartridges are released, turning to the left allows for a natural follow-through motion to pull the speedloader away from the revolver. Finally, there is a mechanical inclination to tighten when turning to the right and loosen when turning to the left, just like a bolt or bottle cap.
Pachmayr hopes this explanation helps to clear up any confusion, and they are confident that once users experience their speedloader, they will appreciate its superior design and construction. The Speedloaders are available for .38/357 S&W "J" frame/Ruger LCR, as well as S&W "K" and S&W "L" frame revolvers.
